Introduction
In the neotropical region there are about 990 described species of Pyrginae -  a subfamily of Skippers characterised by their habit of basking with wings outspread, as opposed to the half-open position favoured by the Hesperiinae.
The genus Conognathus comprises of a single species platon.
This species is found in Ecuador and western Brazil.
Habitats
This is a forest species, found at altitudes between about 300-1000 metres.

Males visit river beaches and roadsides to imbibe moisture.
