Orthoptera - Grasshoppers, Crickets, Katydids
Below is a selection of images of grasshoppers, crickets & katydids seen in Peru in 2008-2010. Unfortunately I lack the time and resources necessary to determine the identification of these insects, so if you are able to put a name to any of them please contact me.
unidentified grasshopper, ref 899, Pantiacolla, 550m, Rio Alto Madre de Dios, Peru
Monkey Hopper ( Eumastacidae ) ref 301, Pantiacolla, 550m, Rio Alto Madre de Dios, Peru
unidentified Katydid, ref 890, Rio Pindayo, Peru
Chromacris peruviana, Tingo Maria, Peru
unidentified grasshopper, ref 873
Jumping Stick ( Proscopiidae )  Apioscelis sp., ref 922. The amazing stick-like appearance is reinforced by the odd posture of the legs. Although this looks remarkably like a stick insect, it is actually a type of grasshopper.
