Introduction

There are 11 known species in the genus Adhemarius, which is confined exclusively to the neotropics.
All are large moths with a wingspan of 10-14cms. The pattern of dark brown markings on the thorax and the base of the forewings is common among all the members of the genus, but the size and shape of the markings varies from species to species. The apex of the forewings is notched in all species. The hindwings of most species are pink at the base, suffusing to yellowish at the outer margins. Many Adhemarius also have a pattern of dark radiating lines on the hindwings.
Adhemarius tigrina is found Colombia to Bolivia.

Lifecycle

To be completed.

Adult behaviour
