Introduction
There are about 6000 known species of Arctiinae in the neotropical region. Most are noxious to birds and have aposematic or diematic warning coloration.
There are 55 Idalus species, all of which are neotropical in distribution. The majority of species have translucent whitish wings, marked with brown in the basal area of the forewings.
Idalus intermedia is found in French Guyane, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru.
Habitats
This is a cloudforest species found at elevations between about 200-800m.
