Butterflies of temperate Asia
Photographs by various
contributors
The
photographs on this page depict some of the most beautiful and
interesting species found in temperate Asia - an area
stretching from Afghanistan to Siberia, China, Tibet, Korea,
Vietnam and Japan. It is a region where the distribution ranges of
several faunas overlap, with temperate / sub-arctic species
occuring at higher altitudes, and sub-tropical species inhabiting the warmer valleys, particularly in Bhutan, China and Japan. Many of
the species occurring in this part of the world can also be
found in Europe or in Malaysia, so please check the Europe and
Malaysia indexes and galleries for additional species not
illustrated here.
