Introduction
Identification Guide | Species Index
There are just under 400 species of butterfly on the Australian mainland, plus another 22 which are native to Papua New Guinea and only found in Australia on remote islands in the Torres Strait. New Zealand due to its remote location has only 26 species of which 11 are endemics. The remaining 15 are either casual migrants or Australian species that have native populations in New Zealand.
