Wednesday 27th February
An amazingly early record - a male Orange tip was reported today at Sutton Courtenay in Oxon!
Saturday 23rd February
A Speckled Wood was reported toady from Salvington near Worthing in Sussex.
Sunday 17th February
Several sightings were reported from Sussex today including a Peacock at Bognor Regis, a Comma at Brede High Woods, and a Small Tortoiseshell and Red Admiral at North Seaford.
Wednesday 13th February
After a bitterly cold day yesterday when daytime temperatures here at Leicester just about reached 0C, today was pleasantly sunny and felt almost spring-like. It therefore came as no great surprise to hear that a Brimstone was sighted this afternoon at Graffham Common in Sussex.
Sunday 10th February
The return of cold wet weather has sent the Small Tortoiseshells, Commas, Peacocks, Red Admirals and Brimstones back into hibernation, so I've taken advantage of the time spent indoors to upload a hundred or so images from our September 2012 Ghana tour to the Butterflies of Africa galleries.
Friday 1st February
A Small Tortoiseshell was seen today in a garden at Cholsey in Oxfordshire.
