Introduction
There are only 2 species in the genus Gandaca, i.e. butyrosa which occurs in the Philippines and in Sulawesi and New Guinea; and harina which is found in India, Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, peninsular Malaysia, Sumatra and Borneo.
Habitats
This species is found in rainforest and humid deciduous forest at elevations between sea level and about 900m.

Lifecycle
The larval foodplants include Mitrephora, Monocarpia ( Annonaceae ), Ventilago ( Rhamnaceae ), and Connarus ( Connaraceae ).
Adult behaviour
Males are sometimes found aggregating with Eurema and other Pierids but are more often found singly or in two's or three's, imbibing from wet ground. Females are sometimes found nectaring at Lantana but spend most of their lives in the tree tops.
